Roads in Malaysia are of a good quality around main towns and cities, as well as on major highways. Areas more out of the way, however, are likely to have much poorer road standards. There is an extensive bus service covering the entire country – both peninsular and island Malaysia – and buses offer cheap and reliable transport to many destinations through the country, even if it can be a little crowded and uncomfortable. Transport through most towns is provided through bus and taxi service – both normal and shared – and Kuala Lumpur has an extensive public transport service running 24 hours. Rail travel in Malaysia is the most popular way of getting around the country, with regular, reliable and comfortable services on offer – or cheap and cheerful, cramped, uncomfortable services if one is so inclined. There are a range of train classes on offer and a multitude of fares available, as well as special discount passes. Trains cover most destinations in the country and are a great way of getting around Malaysia. There are a number of internal flights available, but it works out a lot cheaper, if a bit slower, to take the train or bus. There are a number of different services offered through Malaysia’s many waterways, from major passenger ferries between the peninsular and island regions, to small water taxis ferrying people from one area of town to another. Water travel is inexpensive and easy to use, and should at least be experienced. Car Hire: http://www.argusrentals.com http://www.avis.com http://www.hertz.com
